He is certainly a deep thinker, and it’s necessary to consider the whole picture and realise that all of us are individuals, life is complex and the times we live in are pretty much unprecedented. Pope Leo is doing a great job.
This is why having a pope who is from the U.S. and understands the political system and how it affects the Catholic Church. The USCCB made a huge mistake in the last ten years by focusing only on abortion. I liked how Pope Leo said supporting the death penalty is not pro-life. His calling out “pro-lifers” who support inhumane treatment of immigrants as not pro-life. Catholics must understand pro-life if womb to tomb.
As in being more than antiabortion. It should encompass more than just that. I like his threading the needle on this so tactfully and wisely. Seems like he’s doing a solid job so far.
I’m not sure about everyone else but this beginning into his papacy is a breath of fresh air. He wields an aura of Humility and Love. Look to the Chair of St Peter in these troubled times and realize that Leo is a gift of mercy from Heaven.
Pope Leo is showing the world what it means to follow Christ. It has always troubled me that so many politicians proclaim to be pro life, but are unconcerned about the health and wellbeing of the child after being born.
I benefitted from 16 years of Catholic education: 12 with Dominican sisters, then undergrad with Mercies. I was married by a bishop, my cousin. I thought I knew something about the Catholic faith... until I officed next to a Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth who, like the Pope, is a canon lawyer. That was when I found out how simplistic my beliefs were--and how much more there was to understand.
Pro-life is more than pro forced birth. Being pro life needs to encompass the life of the pregnant woman, the health of the newborn, the ability of a woman to feed, clothe and house herself and her child and more.
Before the 2024 election, I had a conversation with a good friend who is conservative. I pointed out that pro-life applies to more than just the unborn. Their response was that basically their vote came down to one pro-life issue. At least, that was my interpretation. My point was that life goes beyond the womb. As a woman who miscarried five times, there are no words to describe the pain. I do have two wonderful young adults, and feel blessed I was given the gift of them. But life doesn't stop after birth is given. Too many people, children, teens, adults; are treated by this society as toss aways. This disturbs me more than anything. I couldn't support someone who disrespects minors (females),the handicapped, or someone who has more melatonin than I do.

“Dems are showing a little backbone. Our job is to stiffen it. Our goal is not a shutdown -- it’s building an opposition party that uses its leverage to reduce human harm and slow the march toward authoritarianism. Whether Republicans drive us into a shutdown or not, our success depends on Democrats holding strong rather than simply surrendering again.
Republicans will not change course if they think they can just roll over Dems again. And Dems will not stay strong unless they feel like they have the support to do so. This is a week when your calls, your visits to congressional offices, and your level of vocal support really matter.” - Ezra Levin

OMG, OMG, OMG…I’m not Catholic but having a Pope who understands the nuances of human existence! Wow…just Wow.

I like Catholic teaching on being prolife”

To care for the needs of the whole family is important. Moms' needs also matter, and school-age children need attention and love from both parents.
Thank God -- literally!

For the grieving. A beautiful poem about the never ending presence of love after loss.
