The first American pope is telling Gen Z exactly what they needed to hear: don’t let your faith languish as a solo online project languishing in extremism.
Praise and thanks be to God for Pope Leo XIV. May he save the rad trads from their disordered personal piety and their naive disdain for the Ordinary Magisterium (Vatican II) of Holy Mother Church 🙏 ❤️
Agree but charity even in infinitesimal doses has to start somewhere. Many priests and seminarians don’t read Gaudium et Spes (and it’s 31 mentions of “the common good”) so I can’t strafe those whose Catholicism and lived beatitudes/beatific vision does not extend beyond what they hear via misguided and paradoxical (e.g., “liturgy wars” 🤦♂️) social media content. Dialogue has to begin somewhere.
Maybe the rad progressives can also be saved from their own personal egos and hubris. The trads have far more love for Holy Mother Church than your wing.
This substack is prime example - how many followers here don't even like the faith
Spare us with your love meter. I’ve fed more hungry people and taken the Eucharist to the homebound in the last 5 years more times than you have changed underware in your entire life.
When you live the beatitudes rather than love 14th century rubrics, then you love Jesus Christ and his Church.
As for this substack it keeps popping up in my feed despite not following or subscribing to it. But it is clear that this substack cares nothing about the faith or the poor. It really just wants to hate on anything mildly not left wing
Funny how you ASSume “it cares nothing about the faith or the poor.” If you’re really a scientist, kill the pop-ups and ignore it instead of right-fighting in it. Get on with your life and contribute real value to society.
Trust me, I’m anything but in love with my own charity. I disclose it only because it is impossible to argue with dualist dimwits like you hiding behind 14th century rubrics and costumes instead of living the beatitudes. I’m retired and most of my fixed income goes to charity. Trads should stop their performative flopping at Mass and use their legs, hands, and feet for the corporal works of mercy.
I'm sorry to say but the liberal boomers utopia is not coming. The last 10 years have shown the younger generations that its fruits are dead. They look to something of more sustenance. They want a vibrant living tradition that connects them with their past and engages the ENTIRE Catholic mission of beauty goodness and truth. These things are inseparable. Right praise, charity and the gospel go together
Liberal boomers? The last 10 years? I was a parish catechist, sacristan, and ministering in parishes as a lector, usher, EMHC, and delivering meals on wheels before you were crapping in diapers. As soon as I hear “beauty, beauty, lost beauty” I know I am wasting my time. I hope you find what you are seeking. I’ll stick with the Magisterium of the Church and the Beatitudes.
Sir, you make too many assumptions and you hurt yourself with this behavior.
There was no need to disclose this personal information. You did to feel good about yourself and look good in front of your friends. The only performativity here is coming from you
Mid 60s lesbian here, brought up in a traditional Irish Catholic home. I so wish the church had space for me as one of God's children-full stop. But I had enough of Doctrine castigating me as a sinner, and marginalizing women in its priesthood.
Until that changes, the church will be bereft of all the great things people like me could bring to working for and with the church, from people seeking spiritual meaning, but being formally "othered" and never truly valued for who we are in all our dimensions.
I say all the federal employees who aren’t getting paid need to stop showing up for work. All of them, including the air traffic controllers. That would bring this Epstein shutdown to and end right quick. Let the blame fall on Republicans, where it should.
Meanwhile, my list of demands keeps getting longer - the longer the shutdown goes on:
I’m gonna suggest the House Democrats find someone else to install their new member, then reconvene on their own and appoint a new speaker and get down to the business of governing without the Republicans, just as they would if all the Republicans were out sick. Do it! Act!
Release the Epstein files. Abolish ICE. Bring back the tax rates of the 1950s. Overturn citizens united. Remove the cap on social security contributions, and make said tax also apply to capital gains. Universal healthcare, with no direct cost to the individual. Big pay increases for social workers, teachers, museum workers and librarians. Free childcare. Free university education. Forgive all student loans. 2 term limit for every political office. Mandatory retirement for politicians at age 70. Get rid of electronic voting machines. Eliminate the electoral college. Devise a standardized method of apportionment that eliminates gerrymandering. Minimum wage of $25 per hour indexed to inflation and adjusts annually. No federal office for a convicted felon.
Faith does thrive in community, not in isolation. Let’s form a community around these demands:

I feel a substack rant coming...
Sooo grateful we have a (fairly younger) AMERICAN Pope who is savvy to the fascist rad trad BS going on in the USA. Praise be to God!

You're being too nice by saying naive. Personally, I don't think all of them are naive; I think there is genuine wickedness to their views.

Dialogue recognising magisterium must commence. Pedestrianism is reductionism in many instances.
Maybe the rad progressives can also be saved from their own personal egos and hubris. The trads have far more love for Holy Mother Church than your wing.

"I've fed more people....in your entire life"
Thanks for proving my point. You are in love with your own charity.
Alms giving is done in silent so I make a point of never assuming what someone does with regards to corporal works of mercy.
I speak to a general pattern that this guy's substack is emblematic of the prog Catholic movement....a dead end
The plank in the eye story applies to you guys as well but you just can't see it
If you don’t like this Substack, then leave and get on with your personal piety.

"Peformative flopping"
"Dualist dimwit"
Assumes Trads don't engage in charity.

They can leave. They may believe they, too, are God. Many people seem tobbelieve this today.

Thank you
All hail the King of the Pedos!
We, the many millions of victims adore him.
