Many people, including bishops, don’t follow Cardinal Bernardin’s seamless garment, consistent ethics of life, womb to tomb. I think this is a difference between conservative Catholics and more progressive Catholics. More conservative Catholics only focus on abortion. Cardinal Cupich follows it. I don’t live in Chicago but if I’m sick and can’t go to church I always watch his mass because I like his homilies. I applaud Pope Leo for promoting Cardinal Cupich.

Cardinal Bernardin was Bishop Bernardin when I was a newly-immigrated kid in Cincinnati, and no matter how much time passes or how many changes of leadership there are (including the last two popes, whom I admire and respect), I still sort of hear “John Paul our Pope, Joseph our bishop” in my head when I get to that part of the Mass because that’s what was said during my most formative years. :) I only later learned what an important figure Joseph Bernardin was in Catholic social teaching, and about the seamless garment of life. A really wonderful metaphor.

Pope Leo XIII was the foundation of Catholic social teaching. Cardinal Bernardin extended the teachings with his seamless garment.

That’s a rare plot twist in Vatican politics. The louder the mob tried to bury Cupich, the higher Leo lifted him. That’s how you know it’s not theater, it’s reform.

When the Church remembers that “pro-life” means protecting every life, it stops sounding like a party platform and starts sounding like the Gospel again.

Blessed be the shepherds who guard the living instead of policing the womb.

This is an extraordinary vote of confidence from the Holy Father — our Father Bob.

It is all obvious testimony to the work and power of the Holy Spirit.

I believe I’d crawl over glass if Pope Leo and Cardinal Cupich asked me to, and I left the Catholic Church in 2015.

When I think about the abortion issue, I try not to let my personal feelings get in the way. I’m no religious leader. I refer all authority about this issue as St Thomas discusses it. He is, after all, the prominent figure in the Catholic Church’s teachings.

The condemnation of abortion is an infallible doctrine of the catholic Church with the same authority as all the Marian dogmas and the founding of the Catholic Church by Christ.

It is impossible that abortion can be equated with migration status. The "seamless garment" degrades abortion as a lower level sin. Pope Leo is a traitor to the unborn and a horrible person and horrible Pope.

What about caring for people who are already born. Is their life less important?

It fulfills The Womb to Tomb Principal. It does NOT degrade abortion. If you only care about an infant being born and then forgotten what good is saving that infant?

The three of yall have hardened your hearts to the unborn in danger of abortion and yall are the reason that abortion is still the greatest evil in the world.

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ Matt 25:45

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

James 1;27. Your religion is phony.

The intention is getting you to look at the fact that is a person that Requires continuous care. Our system bit by bit is cutting all aid to those infants. Healthcare for instance. We are the richest nation in the world and the only one that doesn’t provide healthcare to ALL its citizens.

No ! I am saying you cannot save them from abortion and then leave them there. It has to be from the womb to the tomb that we love our neighbor in whatever circumstances they are in.
