Letters from Leo is very, very partisan, under the notion of the Faith, launching assaults on the GOP, especially the Catholic members, notably the VP.
No public official should be exempt from examination, but the silence re the previous Biden administration on this site is indefensible, as are many attacks on other Catholics.
The site is very ‘ clerical’ , clearly failing to grasp the secular nature of the laity and the legitimate freedom that comes with that secularity.

In my opinion(and it IS just one person’s opinion) most of these sites are not only extremely misogynistic but racist as well. Some seem downright fascist. IMO some of them couldn’t be less “Christian” if they tried.
I read some of these opinions to gain insight into their POV including where their views come from.
Bias is going to be a part of the picture no matter who authors an article, a substack or a website.
There is no escaping it. I was in research science for almost
20 years and even in a field that prizes objectivity above all else, bias was STILL everywhere. It was scientific not religious or political but there was still a slant in one direction or another.
The question is whether one can accept that we have opinions that are open to controversy and are adult enough to accept that others do as well.
If you don’t like “Letters From Leo”, don’t diss it as illegitimate. Either read it with an open mind and try to understand the POV expressed or don’t read it at all.
Also its self evident why leo has been silent on biden - he wasnt elected til 6 months after Trump became president again. Why would he comment on the past? That would be weird. The fact youre dragging biden into this tells us all we know about your political affiliation, when this is a catholic newsletter. If the pope starts admonishing centreleft politicians im sure we'll hear about it.
Your beef is with Leo, or maybe Joe Biden, not Chris. And why should we assume these thoughts and news are relevant only to the laity in the Roman tradition of what I know as the one holy catholic and apostolic Church? All are welcome at this table. Including you.
I confess I’m not an ‘ expert’ on JD Vance, even less on how he lives his Catholic Faith.
What I understand is that Vance grew up in circumstances that most would regard as less than ideal, relying primarily on his grandmother, who seems to have been a formative influence for him, in a good way.
At some point he enlists as a marine, completed at least one tour of duty in his deployment, returns, commences Law studies at Yale which he completes with distinction,meets and marries his wife and is now the VP
But all of that is not the point of contention

I think that commentary gets much wrong, is ill founded but what is especially dubious are the personal attacks on Vance , not too dissimillar to your own comments, about how Vance is living his Faith
Well im not even catholic and i dont find it to be out of touch or insular, clerical, overly religious at all. I like hearing what the pope, as a Good Guy, has to say about the World, and the Bad Things often happening in it, and the Good Word and Works he would like to present to the World.
FWIW JD vance is a terrible Catholic, if you assess him based on his own words, past deeds, self confessed plans, and the company he keeps. Hes gotten the closest thing to personal mentoring from the Pope that ive ever seen a "baby catholic" who is a politician get, and the Popes admonitions barely registered. He hasnt changed his way of thinking, hasnt even tried! If you dont listen to the Pope when he says youve got it wrong, who will you listen to? Your couch? Not your wife, who youre openly humiliating by carrying on in public with a recently widowed woman. His other mentor figure is Peter Thiel, who looks like a Nazi Antichrist compared to the average man let alone compared to the pope, and it seems his influence has had a much more profound impact than that of the Pope of the Catholic Church.
So yeah, JD vance isnt someone id die on any hill for.. what are the credentials of the other conservatives youve got in mind to defend?
