Five days after cancer surgery, the pope thanked the faithful for their prayers from the Angelus window. His surgeon calls him “an ideal patient” and says the Nov. 6 trip to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru can go ahead.
As a retired nurse, I had to chuckle. I'm assuming the chapel must have been very close to his room. Here in the US there is " fall prevention " protocol in hospitals. A 71 year old patient, a day post op, wi t h an IV in and maybe on telemetry ( a portable heart monitor) would be a ' moderate fall risk and asked to call for help. I have to say, if I had been his nurse, it would have been hard to pull rank on the Holy Father and escort have back to his room! I would have have found someone to cover the rest of my patients and offers to be his lector since I read at my parish.😄
What we witnessed was nothing short of a miracle. I can only hope that since he's still planning to go to South America, his lungs and lymph nodes are clear of any remaining cancer cells.
Thank you for keeping us so well-informed about our Pope. So good to hear his voice and feel the love surrounding him. I "felt" his emotion around his thanks for the prayers and the medical personnel who treated him. I know he felt all those prayers. And I know prayers work miracles.
Let us continue our prayers for him every day, every time we think of him or read/hear his name.
🙏🏽 My prayers for Pope Leo’s full recovery with many years of guiding us with the grace of our Creator, Jesus and the Holy Spirit 🕊️🕊️🕊️ “Let us all continue to pray for Leo, our pope.”❤️
So wonderful to see him and to hear his strong, kind voice.
Pope Leo XIV ALWAYS gives me HOPE!
God Bless our Beloved Pope Leo XIV!
