I don't care what religion (or atheist) a person belongs to. This holy man is simply saying Love thy neighbor. Pretty simple for human beings to believe in

Somehow many people don’t seem to understand to love thy neighbor.

This is my new favorite Substack. I have struggled with MAGA Catholicism in my family and community so much this year, and this space helps me breathe. Thanks for your work.

Thank you Christopher Hale for bringing Pope Leo’s words and actions into close view during a time of heightened turbulence in our world. Pope Leo’s spiritual leadership is valued and needed. I fully embrace Pope Leo because he is truly responding in a Christlike manner, especially in regard to the treatment of migrants.

Respect for calling out the hypocrisy of the MAGA crowd and their leaders who ignore when they do not deride the message of the Jesus of the Gospels.

I was first Lector, the reading from Habakkuk was a message to watch and record the evils because God works are slow.

I go to a Bible study at my church and we discussed the first reading today. Sadly what was said in the reading sounds like our society and country now.

MAGA, as we all know are usually not educated racist angry that others who studied did well. Who knew drinking all day and hooking up with your sister was not a career path? We all want them out of the Church. Now Leo and Jesus are saying so

You can't be a Christian or other religion if you enjoy watching or supporting the suffering of others especially women and children. We are all human beings not creatures from outer space.

So climate change as a moral issue, outweighs the persecution of Catholics in China and Christians in the Middle Eastern Africa, persecution to the death in places like Nigeria? Anybody who believes that is a moral idiot. Anybody who says it is even more of a moral idiot.

Christopher, I expect one of these days that you are going to extend your right arm in a 30° angle and shout “heil Leo!“ i’m not kidding. Your sycophantic response to Leo is no different than the brownshirts’ response to Hitler.

The next time you say “I stand with Pope Leo,“ you should remind yourself that a lot of Germans stood with Hitler when Germany was collapsing and ruins all around them. Because the Catholic Church is in fullbore moral collapse and has been for a lot longer than most Catholics would be willing to admit. The fact that you shut your eyes to it and post anti-MAGA rhetoric and response does not obscure that fact.
