I am so glad the Catholic Church and clergy are standing against this horrific stealing of people. Makes me even prouder to be a Catholic.

Some leaders wield fear like a weapon.

Others carry hope into the very rooms where fear thinks it’s in charge.

Bishop Pham knows that accompaniment is more than showing up. It’s a refusal to let the powerful isolate the vulnerable.

That’s how you break the machinery of cruelty — not with louder threats, but with steady presence that won’t look away.

Have you reached out to your diocese?. . In escorting in and out of courtroom.. . Quite a task.. . How do you address that situation when you hit you right in the face when you were escorting that person in and out of that courtroom. . I remember over a month ago we’re sitting in Church and the call came out verbally over the pulpit. Those that are interested. Please go to San Diego. A destination was given now I understand why.

Catholics and if we are true Christians Christ like behavior . . Then we will walk with innocent men and women who see asylum, and others just need to finish their documentation so they can take that last class and become a US citizen by taking their oath.. .

It’s good to see The Church fulfill its mission to defend the poor and marginalized by promoting and supporting legal services through specialized lay ministries and partner organizations such as the collaborative effort between the Catholic Diocese of San Diego and the San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP). However given the widespread challenges today impacting refugees from CECOT to USA prisons with roots in systemic racism and disproportionate capitalist violence against the oppressed, the poor and marginalized need advocates for restorative justice models like priests trained as lawyers.

Where I live we have groups who support immigrants and are present at court. Some Catholic priests are lawyers but they are canon law attorneys.
