So important....thank you Christopher, for addressing the Church response to this crisis with clarity.
"It is, above all, a challenge to put faith into action. The Gospel “cannot remain silent” in the face of injustice, Pope Leo has taught. Now one of his most trusted American lieutenants is carrying that message into the public square, even if it puts him at odds with a president. "
Thank you so much. The past ten years have been so difficult. My fellow parishioners did not see the evil of the moment. They were totally manipulated by what they saw and heard on Fox News. We were not being led by our pastors who seemed to be afraid to stand up. Now with the leadership of Pope Leo and Cardinal Tobin and others, we have a unified call to action; whereby, we stand shoulder to shoulder to defeat and destroy this ugly monster. Never been prouder to be a Catholic.
Thank you Chris. I have so much respect for Cardinal Tobin and the others who are pushing against Trump. Cardinal Tobin is a Redemptorist priest, which means he has always worked with the poor and most abandoned. Redemptorist priests always focus on social justice. I went to a Redemptorist high school and learned social justice from the priests. It’s wonderful seeing the support from Pope Leo for what the bishops are doing.
Powerful piece on how religious authority confronts state enforcement. The machinery of death framing realy cuts through typical immigration debate language - it's not just about policy but about institutional violence becoming normalized. I had a freind who worked with sanctuary churches in 2019 and the stories about ICE tactics were disturbing even back then. Now with explicit calls from bishops to defund entire agencies, we're seeing religious institutions use their platform more strategicaly than before.
Thank you, Christopher. It’s important for us to know where the church stands - with us ❤️🩹
Thank God for this witness!
Thank you, Cardinal Tobin, for speaking out against this lawless violence!
Silence is complicity!
Indifference encourages evil!

I’m very disappointed, but can’t sit around feeling sorry for myself. Some of us have a job to do.
