The Pope is being a tremendous example to all Christians and to all Americans. As he refuses to engage or be intimidated by the President’s reign of coercion and terror, he opens the door for the rest of us to follow suit.

I am not a Catholic, but I respect this man’s wisdom and judgment, and Christ likeness. He is a spiritual leader for all, in these times.

LNB's avatar

Yes, this, I'm not Catholic but I respect the pope as a man who shows an example to the world as walking with Christ. Evangelicals have lost their way. Hate is not in the gospel.

Jane Carey's avatar

Yes, his fruit is of someone walking with Christ, and that is how we are to know people, by their fruit. Trump’s fruit is altogether different, and is not of the same ilk.

Kathy Hughes's avatar

Pope Leo is giving Jesus’s response to the wars we see today, and he is correct to call for peace.

LNB's avatar

By their fruit ye shall know them. Succinct and spot on. Thanks!

Please subscribe to Letters from Leo , Chris Hale writes a wonderful piece of Journalism for the Catholic Church.

I agree! I'm not Catholic and have a paid subscription. I enjoy learning about the Church and especially Pope Leo!

I couldn't sleep last night and couldn't figure out why. Then I realized I was just furious about that AI image of Trump as Jesus. But it's not just the sheer vulgarity and blasphemy of it. I realized that there are White House personnel, paid by our tax dollars, that are producing this garbage. So much for responsible stewardship of the public funds. The Democrats should request that the General Accounting Office investigate whether the assigned duties and the "work products" of the White House staff represent a legitimate use of public funds.

Kathy Hughes's avatar

The AI “art” wasn’t just sacrilegious, it was stupid. Even some of Trump’s regular cheerleaders like Allíe Beth Stuckey were unimpressed with it.

A Scot who is so proud of our Dear Pope Leo.

Speaking against war and war mongering, instead for peace, compassion and humanity.

Christopher is doing a wonderful job with Letters from Leo and is to be congratulated.

I really enjoyed his podcast today with the two other gents, to which I'll have another wee listen.

As far as I'm concerned, Trump is blasphemous!

Including selling the Bible with his name on it.

Richard Farrell's avatar

I do agree there is something very wrong with placing his name on the outside of a Bible, however, it is an acceptable KJV version of God’s word. My faith in Christ is for those who have purchased it, or received it as a joke, will take the time to read it, and be moved by it. 120,000 copies have been sold. Since I was a young boy, I always believed that no one can steal a Bible from me, but that they would use it, to feed themselves. Either by selling it or by being feed by it.

May those Bible created for envy of one man, become an instrument of God.

congratulations on a terrific day! Pointing out the administration's disparate treatment of Catholic evangelicals and christian nationalist evangelicals is perhaps a game changer. Your writings are a true rallying cry for our wonderful Pope Leo XIV, for all Catholics,. but also a loving invitation for anyone of any faith or no faith to join. Great work! Thank you!

I’m happy to hear Pope Leo bring compassion to the forefront

Trump is a man damaged beyond repair; his niece has cataloged it.

I think that in the cloud of distaste we feel for a deranged man who has insulted our beautiful Pope, we need to be careful of indulging in self righteous judgment.

RedRover's avatar

In the words of the poet Steve Goodman, go Chris go! (Everybody!) Go Chris Go! Hey Chicago whaddaya say, your son Leo unites us all today!

And Bishop Barron stood by at an Easter brunch while Trump was compared to Christ by an evangelical minister

Helen McGowan's avatar

Shame on him!

He should have left the room and WH immediately, without excusing himself or apology.

Richard Farrell's avatar

Support isn’t shown by standing there respectively, while others glorify someone, it is how you respond when given your turn to speak. I ask you to listen to Bishop Barron’s words during his prayer, with an open heart, and then to his description afterwards in the mall outside the White House grounds. This man is serving God as a Bishop of God’s Church. I am thankful to use this video by Daily Dose of Christ, because it shows the Bishop’s prayer and his thoughts afterwards.

Hi Richard,

I will do as you suggest and ASAP, ensure to listen to Bishop Barron's words.

As a Scot, I'm unfamiliar with American Bishops/Priests etc and my comment was obviously based on one episode.

However, I'll listen as you request, but will also try to find out a wee bit more about Bishop Barron and other American Catholic Priests.

Our Dear Pope Leo spoke out, as did other Priests, but we are not all as brave and by 'we', I mean me!

Thank you for your comment.

Richard Farrell's avatar

Helen, I love this video’s angle, because you can watch Trump’s reaction as Bishop Barron leads them in prayer, which focused on God Almighty. I can only hope that a small seed of God’s wisdom cracks his harden heart.

Geri Cochran's avatar

After listening to the Bishop, I respectfully disagree.

Richard Farrell's avatar

Geri, thank you for listening to it, but you might enjoy more if you watch Trump’s reaction as he hears Bishop Barron’s praise for the only King.

E L's avatar

I believe the Trump as Jesus image finally moved him to criticize Trump.

Linda Roberta Hibbs's avatar

Doug Wilson wants Catholic mass banned that is not going to happen!

Geri Cochran's avatar

I believe if we are unable to stop this maga movement, that the Catholic religion will be banned from the country.

Robert Manz's avatar

I just subscribed. For the first time in a long time the church’s witness is a clearly critical voice for the good of humanity, imho. I am leery of pope worship but very happy to get behind a good man who leads and speaks truth to power.

Linda Roberta Hibbs's avatar

Yes they do mock our faith.

SBonelli's avatar

Maga Evangelicals and Christian nationalists don’t think that Catholic’s are even Christian

Geri Cochran's avatar

I've met many evangelical catholics...of course, they attended church with Strickland in Tyler TX before he was fired a few years ago. It'll be up to God to judge them upon their natural death.

pamela Choate's avatar

I'm surprised Trump hasn't bottomed out yet.
