If the US - and Catholics, worldwide - allow the Tom Holmans to dictate what we are; that we must violently kidnap, traffic, torture and falsely imprison our fellow human beings…we fall into barbarism. We will rebuild a nation and religion where weak, corrupt, and, umm, repulsive men - who do not understand love - abuse their unearned power to crush and eliminate the better, stronger, beautiful and authentic people.

Thank you , for the article, Chris. Pope Leo stated that he understands the policy of immigration! That doesn’t mean he approves of what is happening in this country with camps holding children who have no decent food, or water. As for my self we are at a partial shutdown, until the Department of Homeland Security, can stop killing people who are using freedom of speech to express their opinions. I will pray for this nation, the bishops and Pope ♌️!
Homan claims to be a Catholic but I wonder when was the last time was that he went to mass and received the Eucharist. I’m completely surprised he served in the Obama Administration.
Arresting anyone is not right. You need to look at their papers before you lock them up,instead of arresting American citizens, tie them up, don’t look at their papers first. I am a cradle Catholic from the 50’s and he is wrong.
1) The word ‘justice’ in the Catholic tradition has NOTHING to do with a polity’s legal regulatory structures.
If he knew any Hebrew at all, he would know this:
Justice is akin to righteousness (Hebrew: mishpat and tzedakah).
It is the proactive, ethical, and impartial application of God's law, focusing on restoring broken relationships and protecting the vulnerable.
2) The Church had very little to say about legal justice then…I was there and am Catholic. It had a lot to say about the treatment of the stranger and the idiocy of war and nationalism. That’s partly what Vatican II was about.
Homan is as ignorant of Church teachings as trump is of economics, climate change and the price of groceries. Lecturing the Pope displays the pinnacle of his failure to follow his own claim of Catholic faith.
Homan has so much to learn, intellectually and spiritually. The humble, gracious, and wise Leo is much more intelligent than Tom Homan and indeed more than almost everyone. It's embarrassing for someone like Homan to even entertain the thought of enlightening Leo.
I think that the Pope should take Homan up on his offer to “splain “ him on the Church’s obligation to “welcome the stranger”. That should turn out well. 😂😂😂
