I remember him saying the Eucharist is medicine for the sick. He meant sick in our souls. He was a gift for us as the Pope.

Francis didn’t need “santo subito”—he already canonized the brokenhearted, the doubters, and the ones who forgot how to pray but still showed up. His legacy isn’t marble—it’s mercy.

What moves me most is how he made space at the table for the spiritually disheveled. Not by lowering the standard, but by revealing that grace was never earned to begin with.

If Pope Leo carries even a flicker of that fire, then maybe there’s still hope for a Church that remembers who it’s really about.

Beautifully written—thank you for honoring the Troublemaker Pope.

This really got to me as a divorced and remarried Catholic, who was once a Eucharistic Minister. I have never been in a position to have my first marriage annulled, and quit the church. Being there and never again being able to receive the Holy Eucharist is just too painful. I'm crying as I type this.
