One night after protections lapsed for more than 300,000 Haitians, a Maryland parish held a mass of solidarity — and Miami’s archbishop spent two days on Capitol Hill demanding the Senate act.
What a crime against humanity. These are people who have cared for our elderly, lived with and cared for our children, and prayed with us in our churches. What crime have they committed? What court is allowing this to happen? Our Catholic community must stand with these people and prevent this from going forward. How can we help them?
The hatred of MAGA is palpable and has no bottom. On the other hand God's grace is much larger. It's up to us to trust in God's will as we praise him by serving one another. Seems to me we're being given some opportunities to do just that.
I don’t understand and never will how human beings can be so cruel to others. These same people probably hate dogs. It’s still interesting to see a Catholic archbishop dressed for riding a Harley. I like what he said about Make America Great doesn’t mean Make America cruel.
Great piece, Christopher. I just shared on my Facebook page and invited people to contact their US Senators to approve HR 1689, the bipartisan House that passed in April 2026 to extend TPS for Haitians another 18 months.
Great read. More proof if one voted MAGA, one’s soul is in peril.

What can we do to help Catholic Haitians in Chicago?
I am wondering if Pope Leo may make an appearance in September at the United Nations General Assembly. That would be such a blessing for the world.
