You write that priests are to bring the Sacraments to the faithful who fear trying to get to Mass. How soon before ICE starts following priests on their rounds?

Will we become the equivalent of Communist Russia, when priests were arrested as enemies of the State?

That concerns me also.

That is the right thing to do. Thank you.

Absolutely, this is the right action!

The Catholic Church. . . "protecting people from their own government." Not sure what took you so long, but we foot soldiers do appreciate your help.

Fr Chuck, Bishop Charles Thompson, was the pastor of a church I used to go to and has a great sense of humor. He’s a canon lawyer and sticks to the rules. For him to approve Catholics missing mass because of fear of being arrested shows how he and the Catholic Church are taking the ICE situation very seriously.

I've just come back from making a rounds near our high, middle, and elementary schools to see if ICE was hiding out near these schools...so they could pick up parents walking their children home. WHERE IS OUR LEADERSHIP IN THE CHURCH on this?! I am not hearing us pray for the immigrant, for the asylee, for those grabbed and suffering in detention centers/concentration camps....and MOST IMPORTANTLY....I do not see parish after parish sending BUS LOADS OF ADULTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE to our state and national seats of power to protest what is happening! I don't see the 'THEM' pursuing this with the passion they have for the unborn!!!! Thank goodness once and a while we see some courage...but this is all we can muster?

You need to go to a different parish. At every mass in my parish we pray for immigrants. The USCCB has voiced their opinions of ICE and what is being done. Cardinals Cupich, Tobin and McElroy have strongly criticized what Trump is doing with ICE and immigrants being arrested. Maybe in your parish you could organize buses of adults and young people to protest at your state capitol.

Thank you for the newsletter, Chris. I will pray for the Pope and the Catholic community and this nation.

No pope, bishop, or priest can unilaterally nullify the First Commandment.

Curious that bishops were willing to bow to Caesar (Governor Northam here in Virginia) during COVID, but now defy the Catholic Catechism’s requirement that immigrants respect the law (CCC 2241.2) because they don’t like Caesar this time around.

Is it becauses he cut off the taxpayer billions to their secular NGO’s?

Beckwith is a white Christian Nationalist pastor who made a fool of himself accusing an award winning Indiana public high school drum line of being “Satanic.” That didn’t go over well with the parents of the students who belong to the drum line, or with residents of the town where the high school is located. The parents and members of the community where the high school drum line is located are rightly proud of the students’ accomplishments in competition.
