The first American pope walked into one of Equatorial Guinea's most notorious prisons, set aside his script, and told the inmates in off-the-cuff Spanish that God would never forget them.
These are the words I needed to hear right now. I'm feeling lost, alone, and scared. Even though I'm not in a physical prison I know I'm in one I've created myself. I'm trying so hard to let go and let God. Knowing that Pope Leo has put this truth into the world consoles me. Thank you, Pope Leo, and thank you for sharing this with us Christopher.
I am so grateful that this pope has continued the legacy of Francis and even upped the ante in some ways. I left the church when the American bishops disallowed the rice wafers at communion shortly after my daughter had her first communion. As a child with anaphylactic wheat allergies in a Catholic school she was then told to cross her arms and receive a blessing while all her friends received communion. I'd left the church before and come back but after the sex abuse scandals and this, I'd had it. As a woman and a mother of daughters, it's just too much to have a bunch of old men in charge of everything, but I'm glad the pope is doing good work and I hope that one day the church will feel like a welcoming place for some of us again.
Thank you, for the newsletter, Chris. I pray that Independent Journalism reaches many, I don’t like to see hurt amongst good journalists and good people who write wonderful columns. I cried for both sides. I pray for peace and understanding for both sides. Apparently a board member got way out of hand in horrible circumstances. My prayer, is both parties come together and work everything out together. My prayers for the people in the gulf, my prayers for this platform. I pray for the families of farmers who felt taking their lives due to money stolen by this administration. I pray for each and everyone that peace maybe reached. This administration likes chaos. I don’t want anyone hurt. I pray for Pope Leo and the Catholic Community in this country and around the world.
“You are not alone, “ are the words every human needs to hear at sometime or another during their lifetimes.
I think we all need to be reminded of this. “You are not alone” - Agatha
This moves me beyond words.
Didn’t know about Pope Francis’ last gesture with his collected savings. So noble
Watching the videos of the two popes brought me to tears. They both truly love and care for all people.
Yes. The two popes care about all people.

I'm not exactly sure how I found you and your podcast, Christopher, but I am so very grateful that I have.
