“The vow of poverty, especially for us as Augustinians, is not a statement that it is good to be poor! It is, rather, a declaration on the part of each of us that we want to share all things in common and that we want to live in solidarity with the poor and the needy.”

Hey! No smirk is warranted when announcing Colbert as narrator. He is very devout and was the country’s most public Catholic until, what, a year ago!

Stephen Colbert is the real thing. He practices his faith. So glad that he was chosen to narrate this book.

Wow! I can’t wait to get this and read it! Part of my formation was in the hands of another Augustinian-Fr. Vincent McGarvey. He was a Philly boy, attended Augustinian seminary and Villanova. Over Pope Leo’s pontificate I have often prayed to Fr. and feel assured he keeps his eye on his brother! I was a young teacher in a Catholic school and the Augustinians had taken over the parish. They were a diverse, kind and holy group of men! I love that we get some Colbert to boot. I watched the last Late Show with my fingers crossed for the White Whale!
