The question I have is whether Thiel actually thinks the claims he makes about Pope Leo and Obama are true, or is he a completely cynical liar who will say anything that he thinks will please his audience and advance his agenda.
Has anyone noticed that whenever the Church speaks clearly, and with moral authority as Pope Leo has been doing, that those with the most to lose by it become frightened and bring out the sexual abuse scandal to use as a cudgel to beat the Church up? It is so obvious that Thiell and Trump are scared to death of Pope Leo because they know he is speaking the truth, and eventually the truth will catch up to them. As for Vance, he knows that if he takes sides he is doomed. Thiell et al will abandon him and his political career will be over if he defends the Pope in any way. At the same time, he cannot publicly repudiate the Pope any more than he has already done without losing some new found Catholic support. He is somewhat pathetic.
