A bishop walking with the people instead of hiding behind bureaucracy? Now that’s the kind of apostolic succession the streets can believe in.
Archbishop Weisenburger didn’t hold a press conference. He held a procession. He didn’t debate theology. He read the names of the detained like a litany of the suffering Christ. When he said, “Give a voice to the voiceless,” he didn’t mean a social media post. He meant Mass, movement, and the guts to walk straight into the belly of empire.
This wasn’t politics. It was sacred defiance. Gospel with shoes on.
When the Spirit breaks down walls, some of us bring bricks. Others bring prayers and letters to ICE.
Yes, there have been quite a few Catholic priests, bishops and even a few Cardinals who have spoken out against ICE and even taken their parishioners to immigration meetings. Keep it up!!
I am so blessed to be living in this archdiocese where God has blessed us with holy bishops to lead us to truth, love and beauty. Human life is beauty, in all its forms; from womb to tomb (St. Mother Teresa) in every nation, race and tongue.
The majority of our SCOTUS jurists claim to be Catholic, and yet they continue to flip their "digitus impudicus" to their spiritual leader in their unwavering support of Trump. This "chosen man of God" exalted by FAR RIGHT evangelicals/Christian Nationalists has effectively declared war on those Christ referenced in his teachings which includes not only immigrants but ALL people oppressed or in need such as those he cited in the Beatitudes. I have no doubt that if Trump had been Pharaoh of Egypt at the time Joseph and Mary fled into Egypt with baby Jesus as emigrants fleeing persecution from the likes of Herod, he would have had them arrested and imprisoned in huts on the bank of the Nile in an Egyptian "Alcatraz" .

Archbishop Weisenburger stood in front of ICE with 250 faithful behind him—clergy, collars, and conviction—defying the immigration crackdown with scripture on his breath and Pope Leo in his corner.
> “Migrants are suffering people. Our goal is to give a voice to those who have none.”
Sounds righteous.
But let’s ask: Where does mercy end, and manipulation begin?
---
🧩 What They’re Getting Right:
Yes, the immigration system is broken.
Yes, many undocumented migrants are escaping hellscapes we helped create.
Yes, faith demands compassion, not cruelty.
But what about borders?
What about lawful process?
What about the citizens living under the same government that just got called ‘fascist’ for enforcing its laws?
---
🛑 What This Really Is:
This isn’t about Christ.
It’s about power—moral power leveraged against civic order.
When the Church marches against immigration enforcement, it doesn’t just make a theological claim.
It delegitimizes the state’s authority to decide who stays, who leaves, and who builds the nation.
That’s not sanctuary. That’s a parallel government cloaked in holy robes.
---
⚖️ Final Word:
If the clergy wants to be political warriors, fine.
But don’t pretend it’s neutral.
Don’t pretend it’s just “dignity.”
And don’t expect no pushback when your version of justice nullifies national sovereignty.
You can’t have open borders and closed churches.
Choose.

“Render unto Caesar—just don’t pretend Caesar is evil for having a gate.”
There is something comforting about Catholicism. Commonsense, balanced, peaceful, caring. Yes, it’s had its moments and it’s problems. But because of its long history, it’s further along in its teething process. Certainly beats the modern day gyrators and shakers… hands down!

Guess who’s doing the actual work of Pentecost?

Very happy for you to have genuine Christian leadership!❤️
That's wonderful to see many Christian denominations attended!
Beautifully stated 👏🙏♥️
Jesus was an immigrant.

Remember the Commandments I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt have no other God's before Me!
I am in fear and I am a white US CITIZEN. NONE OF US ARE IMMUNE
Where was this leadership during CONVID? Many died alone and without the sacraments… where was the spiritual accompaniment then?

And before you comment… I’m Anglican.
If only those evangelicals would take heed!
Talk to your congregation. It seems so many are following Trump. Remind them the message of Christ.
Thank you.
