I don’t get what’s so remarkable about this. A moderately-liberal American Catholic prelate and a quite-liberal but still very sincerely-believing Shi’a Muslim? It would seem to me that they only might disagree about abortion. What is the “plenty” that divides them? I would argue that they share far more with each other politically and even spiritually than either shares with reactionaries and traditionalists within their own faith traditions.

Thank you for the newsletter, Chris. It nice to a good Muslim who is doing his best for the city and state of New York work together with archbishop. I see great strides mage in relationship, with other religions. I will always pray for Pope Leo and that his efforts are for the good of humanity and other religions.

Just read this wonderful article and I am so comforted by the actions of the bishop and the mayor.

I stand the idea of an interfaith friendship between Hicks and Mamdani. Lately, I've been seeing videos of bishops actually hanging out with parishoners or speaking out about social justice issues. I hope this leads to a change in how bishops will act overall.

This is the kind of Odd Couple I could get used to seeing. I hope we do see more.
