The premise of the headline may not be helpful. The Pope is not a secular leader beholden to other secular leaders. The Pope is not defying Trump, he is not defying the US. The Papacy is as we celebrated today SSt Peter and Paul the rock upon which the Church is built. It was there before the US existed and will be there after the US ceases to exist. War is a sin, the messy compromise of Just War theory notwithstanding. Trump his henchnen and followers will all be gone in 25 years or so. The Church thinks in centuries. Contradicting Trump, correcting Trump or saying Trump is wrong would be fine but Leo is beholden to God alone not Trump his supporters or his goons.

As long as the so-called maga Catholics continue to receive the body and blood of Christ, they are being blessed, are they not? So, if one breaks the 10 Commandments every single day, they are forgiven on Sunday with Communion? smdh I guess these magas are so special they don't have to confess to their priest before receiving God's grace?
