I am horrified at this. We all know Trump does not respect anyone or anything. Is his next choice to blow up an actual Catholic Church? This just shows more that Vance puts politics and Trump before God and being Catholic.

Sadly, Trump will destroy this sacred site to get his revenge on Pope Leo. He is mentally ill.

Thank you for the newsletter, Chris I am definitely horrified by Trump who wants to take this down, it doesn’t say that White Christian Nationalists want this also, they must . They dishonor the Catholic people and faith. I will pray for Pope Leo and his guidance to help the Catholic Church, and this nation. In the hopes this legislation will stop this madness.

So he wants to knock Jesus down and raise the wall of satan? And we are communists. Lord help us understand 😖

With the exception of money, there is absolutely nothing sacred to this man or his administration. His sin is greed.

Very fascinating. Didn’t know that. I support modern borders and modern nation states, but even the new populist trend isn’t really restoring that. It’s just ugly, divisive, anti catholic.

This is wrong. May God help us all.

I appreciate your calling out the hypocrisy of the so-called "faithful" in this administration. But by now it should be obvious to everyone with eyes to see and a functional mind, that their only imprimatur, their only guiding principle, if one can call it a principle, is power.

They purposely allowed their contractors to drive over ancient Pueblo lines; they're opening drilling on sacred Ute and Navajo and Hopi land; they're opening drilling at Chaco Canyon, the Anasazi site that is the Western hemisphere's Stonehenge; and they have used Christianity as a tool to do harm, in direct opposition to the most important message from the Christian canon and philosophy (in my humble opinion) that has survived the last two millennia: Matthew 25.

If they cared at all about the faiths of the indigenous peoples who came before us and who still live in the margins here (to this nation's great shame, as we have forced them into perpetual subjugation) and/or if they cared at all and/or believed in the faiths they profess, they would make different choices.

The destruction of this sacred site you reference should open the eyes of anyone who still follows these men and women, who still believe that somehow, despite every other action they have taken in opposition to Christianity and Catholicism, and it should make plain to them as it is to many of us, that these men and women who are leading the administration are not only Christians and Catholics when it's convenient and when it gives them power, but exactly because of that, they have fallen so far away from the teachings as to warrant, finally, a conversation as to why people continue to believe their lies.

I won't presume to make windows into souls, but we have never had an administration in my 50+ years on this earth that is less ethical, less moral, and indeed, less Christian than this one. I can't speak for whether or not faithful Catholics would agree, and I don't presume to know.
