These masked agents of the state have already deported the worst of the worst. That was over and done with in a matter of months. But the administration has given ICE a quota of 2000-3000 arrests a day, and no restraints on violent, lawless tactics.
The only way to reach that target is to go after gardeners, farmworkers, roofers, landscapers, servers, cooks, terrified students who have slightly overstayed their visas---and Sister Letty.
Actually, no. In 2025, only about 1/3 of those deported had some sort of criminal conviction and most of those were for minor offenses and not felonies. This was never about the worst of the worst.
I know the numbers. You're right about the percentages. The point I was making wasn't about the fact that of all arrests, only a small percentage were actually the "worst of the worst" they had pledged to deport.
My point had to do with two things.
First is the fact that the relatively small number of actual criminals in this country without proper documentation were swiftly rounded up early in the process, after which ICE turned its attention to arresting the innocent, the law-abiding, valuable human souls.
Second is the appalling consequences of the rigid daily quota imposed by the White House as they aim for a broad target of at least a million deportations per year.
They are rounding up 2000-3000 innocent human beings a day in order to meet a quota. That was my point.

I am somehow finding it difficult to figure out which category this religious sister belongs in. Maybe they mistook her religious habit for a burka?
ICE goes after easy prey. Not criminals, not the dangerous or the large people.
They get *paid* for arresting people. They don't get docked for doing improper/ bad things, time and again.
