Yes!! Too many of our bishops have been too quiet. With one voice we can make change!

When I was practicing medicine in rural counties in Upstate New York, I was often asked what I thought about immigration. It was code for revealing my politics.

I replied, “I am all for it.” I explained that I was a product of an immigrant family, that my grandparents, my parents, all my relatives and children had done no harm to this Country, but had assimilated here, served in the military during its wars, and improved its prosperity and reputation.

Often they had to admit (as I suspected in these mill towns) they too were from recently immigrated families, and could with enthusiasm talk about their own families. Whether I was a Trump supporter or not became immaterial.

Great gifts in a troubled time.

I wonder about Bishop Barron, as well. He led us thru the pandemic. I wish he would lead us thru this troubled time.🙏🏻

I used to listen to Bishop Barron’s podcast. Then when George Floyd was murdered Bishop Barron made the statement that we had problems with race but it’s not that bad. I stopped listening to him immediately.

Not being Catholic, I don't know. What is the role between cardinal/bishop and the pope; can they be "ordered" to follow his directives or are they more strong suggestions? Regardless, it is heartening to see one major religion speaking out, crickets from too many others

Having been previously responsible for making recommendations to the Holy See regarding episcopal appointments, I am quite certain that Pope Leo also reveres the important symbolism inherent in reception of a “red hat.” The red hat of a Catholic cardinal symbolizes their willingness to shed their blood for the church, representing both martyrdom and the high-ranking office of a cardinal. THEREFORE, any U.S. bishop lacking the faith, charity and courage to defend migrants with the loud voice of John the Baptist, does not deserve to be elevated to the rank of Cardinal! As St. Paul reminds us in the second reading today, those who deny Christ, will themselves be denied.

"Pope Leo has made it plain that silence in the face of injustice is not an option." Does this apply to abortion also?

If someone shows Leo photos of all the Americans killed by illegal aliens driving drunk or without insurance or license, will Leo's eyes shed tears? If someone shows him photos of all the Americans murdered or raped by illegal aliens, will he shed tears for them? I suspect not because those dead Americans don't produce revenue like trafficking illegal aliens does for the Catholic Church through the USCCB.

Both of the videos were powerful but the one with Pope Leo was especially powerful because we heard his words and saw him speaking. This morning as I was leaving 10:00 mass I was so grateful and observant of the number of Hispanic families and families from Africa in our diocese in Iowa. Our bishop supports immigration and speaks loudly, as do the other bishops in Iowa.

God disagrees. As a strong believer in the rule of law, God gave us the 10 Commandments.

Wow. I was taught that the foundation of CHRISTianity is the teachings of Jesus CHRIST.

I’m all in for you to believe in a 10 commandment rules based religion but Jesus came to bring a deeper understanding of the basic rules. So if you’re not going to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ then perhaps you need to reconsider your identity as a Christian.

Coveting what we have, then sneaking in to get it...is wrong. We also have laws just like God does.
