Unfortunately, this type of thievery of church funds happens all too often with Eastern Orthodox hierarchy, and Eastern Rite Catholic hierarchs as well.
I am certain this happens in any number of other ecclesiastical places, but I have no first-hand knowledge.
Now, at “Letters with Leo,” we say that we are going to “stand” with these people of ancient Christian heritage; but I would like to know concretely how are we going to “stand”with them?
It is difficult to say that we are going to give money to the Cathedral parish, because at this point you never know where such contributions might wind up.
Is there any more a Chaldean catholic exarch in this country?
Also, are you willing to supply the telephone number of the archdiocesan/diocesan chancellor for San Diego, who might give us direction on how we can help?
