It’s nice to see the clergy from the Vatican noticing the sick culture we have. I have a 14 year old granddaughter and the pressure to look beautiful is real. She’s already asking for skin care products! That’s insane. I follow women’s sports and I have noticed in the past few years the players play with full makeup. Who starts this pressure for women?
My laugh lines have been earned as well as the grief of loved ones lost. My nose and double chin are hereditary and I see my beloved ancestors in the mirror.
Great post! I saw one comment that said“ preventative Botox“. WTF preventative Botox? What is that to prevent you to look like you’re aging? well, there is one other option and that might be better for people that are that vain! I have always said every line I have on my face is from a tear that was shed or a laugh that was laughed and everything else is what God has given me. It’s not that beautiful, but it’s what God has given me! So I guess it is beautiful because it is a gift from God!!
The trend has accelerated but is not new. In the late 60s, at age 16 it was acceptable to get a nose job. And that applied to boys and girls. There was one surgeon known locally as Dr. Nose, and all of his patients ended up with the same nose. It was sort of a trademark, long before the Mar-A-Lago caricature of a face.
I do not regret keeping my original nose, notwithstanding a break or two.
"Quo Vadis, Humanitas? takes aim at the entire spectrum of technologies that promise to remake the human person — from performance-enhancing drugs to neural implants to artificial intelligence systems"... interesting enough transgenderism is not a prime example of in this category that is plaguing our society as well. Transgenderism is at the core this document is trying to point is inherently disordered.
