God bless you Christopher, looking forward to reading it and hearing your analysis. We are truly blessed to have Pope Leo leading our church.

I am so excited. Bishop Dwane fron the Diocese of Venice (Florida) is retiring. Looking forward to a breath of fresh air and a trickle down of Pope Leo's humanity.

“The timing of the release now makes more sense to me. Tomorrow is the day after Pentecost — the feast that undoes Babel, when the Holy Spirit descends on the apostles and unites them across every tongue.”

As a Whitson, strangely enough, I was in my 30s when I first learned of Pentecostal Easter. Has it ever occurred to any of you that the Cristo is a Greek word for being anointed?

The first anointment is the first breath. Thus we are all of the Cristos.

Jesus was a man who may or may not have lived long ago.

But we who are alive today, no matter your creed, the color of your skin or the content of your character have choices to make.

The tower of Babel… And according to the myth, when it fell understanding between peoples, both linguistically otherwise scattered to the wind.

I was born on the western shore. With a beautiful view across the Pacific. A privileged child of the middle class. Raised amongst teachers and other people.

A living room with a view.

So I encourage all to realize our basic essential connectivity. The labels we put on it or what divide us. Our fear of what people say when they speak a different tongue. When they happened to have been born into a different skin. Or social class. Dare we speak of that in America.

I’ve driven the south side of Chicago. I’ve walked the street to Brooklyn when it was down on its knees. I’ve spent time with friends and good people in South Central LA.

I’ve been in places where I didn’t understand a word of the lingua franca.

Yet I understood that I was welcome.

I ain’t no millionaire son… No, that’s a lie My dad through Penny pinching And working 40 years as a public school teacher did accumulate a bit over $1 million. Got to see the whole world before he died.

So I guess I am a millionaire son now. However, inheritance isn’t as simple as it seems. What I prize is the education and kindness that he gave me…

And who knows if the house that my parents bought for $21,000 in 1963 sells for its current value before it falls into the Pacific we may be half the way there to 1 million. After a lifetime serving.

And, yes, Saint Peter‘s Cathedral still stands as of 2008.

Frankly, I never thought I would see a good pope in my lifetime. But now we’re on, maybe number two.

Thank you so much, Christopher, for your work. I am looking forward to the presentation tomorrow, and so glad that Pope Leo himself will be presenting it. We are so blessed to have this very special person leading us during this time of tremendous change.
