The USCCB vice president spent September in Cuernavaca and Rome, then told the National Catholic Reporter that bishops must stop “revving up the anger.” Six weeks before the vote, he is showing the American Church how it is done.
Curious that Bishop Flores made this statement only a couple of days after Virginia's two bishops, +Burbidge of Arlington and Knestout of Richmond, came out strongly against two proposed amendments to the Commonwealth's Constitution that will be on the ballot. A "yes" vote on one will approve abortion up until birth, and no doctr need be present; "Yes" on the second will open the door to homosexual marriage.
Many bishops. with Flores in the lead, have been beating the drum for unlimited immigration, legal and illegal, nonstop for years. They condemn existing immigration law and vilify law enforcement. +Weisenberger even wants to deny the Eucharist to Border Patrol agesnts.
Bishop Flores never complained about that. Only now that two brave bishops speak up about two issues that address objective evils does he suddenly call for attenuation.
Correlation is not causation, but sometimes timing is everything.
