Some of these folk would be against any pope at any time. There are still some white evangelicals who preach that the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon, and the pope is the Antichrist. They’ll throw the statistics off, as their antipathy has nothing to do with Trump or Pope Leo.
It's taken me a lifetime to reach this place in my relationship with God and the Catholic Church. I appreciate the fact that Pope Leo, through his teachings and his actions, supports where we all are at. I'm not afraid of MAGA or donald trump, I'm sad for them. My faith teaches me which side will win.
One of the amazing things about Leo is that his voice--quiet, genial, kindly--can be heard over all those loud, angry, savage voices shouting out messages of division and hate through various megaphones.
The call to faith has never been more urgent, it seems to me. I feel privileged to have lived to see what I believe is a revival of true faith. Although my time here is running out it gives me a sense of true peace to see how many people, especially young people, are responding to Leo's message.
Power is strength as I tell my Adult Bible Learners! Power of and power with is a greater truth than "power over"! Most people of faith understand that ontological teleos!
Trump may be right that Leo wouldn't be pope if not for him. For years, the common opinion in the Vatican was that there wouldn't be an American pope until America was in decline.

Only question is who is preaching the Gospel, and it falls with Pope Leo. Keep returning to Matthew 25, and what are we called to do.

No Pope will hold the approval of a certain group of rule bound Traditionalists for long
Equally, no Pope will be sufficiently liberal for those on the other end of the spectrum.
The nominal catholic group beit Vance, Honan, etc would rarely take fidelity to the Gospel to heart.
