Thank you for the article, in the newsletter. We are all doing our best to stand up to MAGA. In fact the sermon this morning was how to be humble and kind during these troubling times. I will pray for Pope Leo and this nation, especially during this very difficult times.

Yes, and that resistance is good, but I would surmise they were MAGA opponents to begin with. I would love to see actual MAGA Catholics reverse their positions.

Last Saturday, on the courthouse steps in Knox County, IN, we staged a peaceful ecumenical rally to address the atrocities at the Miami Correctional facility near Grissom AF base in NW Indiana. Sisters of Providence from St Mary of the Woods near Terre Haute joined us and spoke.

Even though I was able to get notice of the rally in the church bulletin, only a small hand full of people showed up. Motorcycles loudly circled the courthouse square during prayers and we were derided as losers by some of the good people of Vincennes, IN.

It was also reported that the prayer vigils were interrupted by the flyover boys doing “drills” at Grissom.

There is still much work to be done in pockets of ignorance like ours.

Thank you, Christopher. This was heartening to read.

As well all Catholics should ! It has been mandated by Pope Leo XIV. Speak out. 70,000 imprisoned in American concentration camps is not a good look for any Catholic. Lord have Mercy !

That’s really gratifying to hear.

Paging Genocide.......

Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains. In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own. It is easier to acquire them, and to effect this, they have perverted the best religion ever preached to man into mystery and jargon, unintelligible to all mankind, and therefore the safer engine for their purposes. With the lawyers it is a new thing. They have, in the mother country, been generally the primest supporters of the free principles of their constitution. But there, too, they have changed.

Thanks for the reminder that the Church shines its light even into the darkest red.

I appreciate the article Christopher but a majority of Catholics supported Trump. Are they still doing so or are they now taking up the fight against fascism?

Where did you hear that the majority of Catholics supported Trump? Could you state your source, please? I would like to think that the majority of Catholics recognize evil when they see it.

While Illinois was not a state carried by the current administration, our Cardinal Blase Cupich has been quite vocal in calling out the Trump-Vance White House. I only wish that our local parishes were equally as loud. I've yet to hear a parish priest make the same kind of statements to their congregation and that's both disappointing and sad. This tempers my hope for a better tomorrow.
